When I started to think about the prospect of studying abroad the first and biggest roadblock I imagined was financing the trip. Since I am older than the conventional study abroad student, it was much more difficult to leave all of my responsibilities behind without worrying about the bills that would be waiting for me when I returned. However, once I found out about all of the scholarship opportunities that were out there I realized that my dream could actually be a reality.
I would not have been able to have the opportunity to do everything I did this summer without the Gilman Scholarship. I know that if I could find a way to realize my dream of studying abroad it is definitely possible for anyone.
